Biography

Joerg Heber is an editor at a high-impact scientific journal as well as a freelance science writer contributing to a number of high-profile publications. He has a strong scientific background with several years research experience in the UK, US and Germany, including industry, and has authored a number of original research papers in high-profile peer-reviewed scientific journals. 

Joerg is a graduate of the University of Erlangen, Germany, and has a PhD in physics from Imperial College London. His postgraduate studies were supported by a prestigious European Commission Marie Curie Fellowship. In 2000, Joerg was awarded an international IUPAP “Young Author Best Paper Award” for his PhD research in semiconductor physics. 

Following his graduation he became a postdoctoral researcher at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, in New Jersey, before taking up a lectureship in physics at the University of Marburg, Germany. In 2005 Joerg joined Nature Materials as an editor. He lives in London.
